ingredients

1 1/4 lbs salmon
1 1/2 lbs swordfish
1 batch perfect swordfish marinade
1 batch chinese 5-spice marinade
3 cups cooked rice
5 plums, cut into quarters
1 apple, cored and cut into wedges
1 can mandarin oranges, drained

perfect swordfish marinade
3/4 cup vino de milo portobello shiraz sauce
2 T soy sauce
2 T sesame oil
3 T fresh dill
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp ginger
1 T onion powder**

chinese 5-spice marinade
1 1/2 tsp lemon zest
3 T lime juice
1 tsp olive oil
1 tsp each cloves, cinnamon, anise extract, pepper, and dill
4 tsp dry ginger or 2T minced ginger root

**1/4 cup of finely minced onions may be used for the onion powder.

directions
  1. Marinate the swordfish for at least one hour, covered, in the refrigerator.
  2. Marinate the salmon in the chinese 5-spice marinade at least 30 minutes, covered, in the refrigerator.
  3. Grill or broil salmon and swordfish until fish flakes easily, 12-15 minutes.
  4. Place fish atop rice on a large platter and surround with fruit. Serve family-style.
